Day 3 Atacama desert

When the advice we read said that the road  was 70% sealed, we thought “sweet” no drama for the Hyundai that Adam and sue had rented......

Our trip today was about 90kms, none on sealed roads, taking us to the the El Tatio geysers.
Said to be the largest and most spectacular geyser field in Southern Hemisphere.
There are approx 80 of these squirters  and makes for a very bizarre landscape. They seem to be continually bubbling and for those very early starters( not us today) they can be rewarded with 6 or so meter jets.
There is sulphur in the air and the fact we at 4300m makes for a very heady mix.

Some very important considerations!!
The boys swam in the thermal pools and enjoyed but weren’t there for long.
Time to come back down from the dizzy heights.

The landscape is spectacular. We saw pink flamingos, vicunas( the llama looking animal) which none of our photos really do justice but wow.

Just made it safely home and a flat tyre on the Hyundai became apparent.
All good, a little man at A&S accommodation came to the rescue.
Dinner, bed...
