Day 4 Atacama desert

Started the day with home made poached eggs cooked in the little kitchen.

Great start to a day that sees us heading east from San Pedro.
The road climbed from the very outset starting around 2500m to just shy of 5000m.
At the top it wasn’t just the Hyundai feeling the effects of the altitude, we were all breathless!
Again this landscape is extraordinary and changing around every corner. The journey up took us past lincancabur volcano, which sits comfortably at about 5600m.

We ran close to Bolivian border and at one point it was only 1.5k away.
Driving along, the Laguna Verde which is across the border was clearly visible. So tempting to pop over for a quick visit but alas no visa.
Other side of the road is the Atacama mm space array( allegedly) for it is well hidden and not visible.

Onward to the Monjes de la Pacana , which is a hilly plain full of Stonehenge looking rocks🤷‍♀️

This is also an area of salt plains and home to hundreds of beautiful pink flamingos.

After dinner tonight we set off on a bit of an adventure chasing sunsets.
Valley of the moon and valley of death😳
All pretty impressive that once again, I’m sure the photos don’t do justice.
